The Passing of My Best Friend.... At 12:45am on .29,'09..I just finished watching a movie..Around the Bend..With Christoper Walken..Josh Lucas and Michael Caine..I went into my room..To find my friend having a heart attack..He was on his bed not able to move..I got on the floor with him..I held his head and comforted him..I was too late..He had left me..I have not cried so hard since my Mother pasted 22 years ago..Bocephus had been with me for 12 years..He has been my best friend..My buddy..Part of my family..I cried so hard I woke my ..She said she was dreaming of me..We called her twin sister that lives next door..I just did not know what to do with him now that he was gone..My heart is broken and aches.. Bocephus is a Pitt Bull..Most people were afraid of him..What a sweet loving friend he was..I would hook his leash to a clothes basket..Put my grandson in it..He would pull him around the house..He never hurt a single person..He was so kind and gentle.. When I first moved to Oregon he was 1 year old..I had to leave him with friends in Calif..Until I could find my own apt..That was the longest,loneliest,most depressing year for me.. When I went back to Calif to get him..He was sitting on the back porch..I called him..He ran out and knocked me off my feet..We were both so very happy to be together again.. Now,I have lost my best friend..He was born July 7,1997..He will be greatly missed by me..And my young twin grandsons that loved him as much as I.. I think it is strange I picked the movie I did to watch..If you have seen it..You will understand why.. Rest in Peace My Good Friend..I miss you so much already..  |

I am so sorry for your loss Jig and there are no words that can be said by me that would comfort you at this time really, but I will try. That your grandsons could play with him is testament to you as an owner of this breed, often maligned by the press for their own purposes. Bocephus has given you many years of good memories and as time passes I hope these memories can put the smile back on your face and give you comfort in the knowledge that he loved you as much as you loved him. I am sorry for your loss dear. I think most of us have had a special friend that we lost and it's never easy. Until recently I was one of those people that was put off by pitts. Then I started dating a special woman who had a pitt. Well she was never at home during the day and I work from home, so I told her she could leave her with me. I also have an adopted labradoodle from another friend. The two dogs get along and play very well, considering they are both alphas. I guess since I'm an alpha too, they both submit to me as pack leader and we all get along. They even share food to a point...given it's not salami! LOL The pitt has become a very special part of my life now and she is sweet as the day is long. With the exception of when there is a thunder storm..she hates them and trys to crawl under my skin...Then there is the problem that she thinks she is a lap dog and crushes my balls! But that's ok, she is to sweet to yell at. My greatest fear is not being bit, but drowning from all the licking! Anyway i'm rattling...I am so sorry for your loss...my doberman Amber was my best friend and I lost her a few years back ago to old age, she was 13. She was trained for CD, CDX and shutzhound III, so I had a lot of time in with her and when she went it was much the same as you feel right now...so again, I am soooo sorry..

Really sorry. I know it is hard right now, but he wouldn't want you to suffer but to remember the good times the last 12 years.

Jigg's ... In this past year I have lost two wonderful dogs that have been in my family for 21 & 14 years. Sadie girl was my best friend, my hunting & fishing partner, my confidant. Not ashamed to say as a grown man I cried! It still hurts but her memory always brings a smile to my face. Time heals all my dear, but memories last forever! God Bless You ... Jim

It is so hard to lose a pet, especially one that is a part of your family, cannot be replaced.
