Advice Line Abuse or "How the West Was Won" Hello and a good Monday to you. Just wanted to let you guys know that you should see a dramatic drop in abuse in the advice lines. I know that's a pretty big claim to make. The advice lines has always been a place where a good conversation could turn into a flame war in the blink of an eye. Not that any of you would ever be so uncivilized! Some of that will always exist, but now the abuse team is going to be much more involved. So if you see something that goes over the line, hit that abuse link right next to every post and let me know if you can see a difference.  |

OH RYAN!!! FANTASTIC!! I used to answer there all the time and I loved it. But it got so chaotic I just quit. I will have to go and revisit that part of the site again. xoxoxox

It'll be nice to see if a real change has been made. The advice lines is a great concept that went sadly to the dogs. I look forward to an improvement.

this is really good news there are few on there that really are winding others up with their abusive, rude and sometimes crude comments. what about the trolls can you do anything about them too

Far less annoying to me (since we are all adults and should understand how to ignore the petty and mean-spirited among us) is the profusion of bots and adverts posing as people in the chat rooms. While those of us trying to pass on real info about ideas and sites for others to check out (and these are usually NOT sexual) the bots come in advertising free porn, punani, dick .. you name it.. without end. There are days when the normal flow of chat is 12 people talking - but the room is counting at 30+ ....but the bots are on ignore.. reporting them does NOTHING ... how about you all work on that? ~ [blog kelidgh]~ I am, indeed

Dear Ryan, as I told yesterday we really need that working for the German advice line, blogs and groups too ... much to much has been going on in the last three years and is still going on, translation programs never get the details ... We've had & have only a handful people {some with lots of profiles} which like to aggravate, harass, abuse & provoke others ... Some profiles were already deleted by abuse & themselves, but the harassment is still up ... Me either doesn't want to get any advice line shut down ... it was and is a good & easy way to come in contact with real people ... to share opinions, to discuss anything and everything with "real humans" behind their profiles ... Nevertheless we need help to get back to civilized conditions & manners ... in the last two years we had terrible decreases in real active members but an increase in "trouble making fake accounts" on the German advice line, German Groups and the German blogs ... Lots of former paying members didn't renew their paying membership {stayed as standards or left the sites}, not only because of troublemakers, but as well because of "unqualified & misleading translated standard forms" used to answer on technical problems of any kind ... "We" real people feel left alone and left in the dark ... I know that sounds pathetic, but have a look at the numbers and please "correct" me - not only less real people, less interaction ... P.S.: If you look on the changing subjects through the years on my blogs for example {"don't worry" - nearly all I have written and write is in English & German} you'll might get a "feeling for" what I am talking about ... I've been watching since you posted this and while it has gotten better, I still see a lot of threads where the crap continues. I'm not terribly impressed and certainly not enough to return to that place. Rename the Advice Lines "As the Stomach Churns".

It has been over a month and I must admit things are far better than they have been in the past; still get some flare ups but overall the tension level I think has dropped dramatically on there. I actually now look forward to reading the questions than cringing with one eye opened dreading what insulting remark was concealed inside. Well at least that is my opinion for what is worth.
