WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY
WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY Today - 10 October - is World Mental Health Day. Tesco - yet again! - had to withdraw its not-so-tasteful Psycho Ward Halloween outfits from sale after complaints from mental health charities in the UK. Asda, the UK arm of Walmart, also had to withdraw its less tasteful ‘mental patient’ Halloween costume from sale after similar protests. Mental health always conjures up negative images, whereas physical health conjures up positive images – do a Google Images search! Yet it is well established that mental and physical health are closely linked. I used to take my mental health for granted; it was something for others to worry about. Now I don’t because those others could easily be me and those others are sometimes my friends. We all have mental health like we have physical health. It is sometimes good, sometimes not-so-good, and sometimes far-from-good. I was going to upload a photo of Tesco’s Psycho Ward outfit, but I went soft and decided a photo of a Jedi man seducing an Earthly woman was far more appropriate than yet another negative image! How do you look after your mental health? Will you celebrate Halloween? Have you used a torch for sex? I have; I didn't miss a thing! |

As far as celebrating Halloween, we just had out cany to the "candy beggers" who come to the door. We always get less than 20 (because this is an older neighborhood) but some areas get 200-300 beggers!

Derry sounds like a great place to be this year. I visited Derry a few years ago and really enjoyed my visit.

That's right, we say torch and you say flashlight. Of course, we are correct!

I do my best to look after my mental health by avoiding the people who drive me nuts... The person that gave birth to me ("mother" in no other way) was born on Halloween 1939, so I never celebrate either. Torches just don't turn me on but I occasionally turn them on :

Halloween was never that big in the UK until relatively recently. I supsect Halloween is celebrated more as the UK has become increasingly Americanised.
