The Four Agreements
The Four Agreements Don Miguel Ruiz wrote a book called, The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide t.o Personal Freedom. This self-help book outlines a code of conduct based on ancient Toltec wisdom. It was first published in 1997; has sold over eight million copies in the US and has been translated into forty-six languages worldwide. The one agreement that resonates with me is Always Do Your Best. Perhaps this comes from how I have always dealt with whatever challenges I have faced from childhood and ongoing. Have you read this book? Which of the agreements stands out for you? |

If you haven't read The Four Agreements, are there other sources of inspiration you turn to for self-help?

I haven't read the book but was brought up with some of this same thinking. I was always told to say it like you mean it. I'm certainly have never been known to be a PC type of person. Life in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

All four *agreements* are valid and important. That said, all four are effectively beyond our capacity to fulfill. I do not offer this conclusion cynically; rather my opinion comes from a conviction that we have little (maybe 10 percent?) control over our lives. Because we are in a constant state of perception and reaction, our existential challenge is to not go backwards and to claw-out whatever progress we can accomplish when we actually have agency. To be sure, easier said than done! If required to single-out one of the four, I would select the second agreement: don't take anything personally. My sense is that much of our anger and grievance bubble-up from assuming that all annoyances and pains are specifically targeted toward us. With so much of Life outside of anyone's control, more often than not, we are just collateral damage in *random acts of shite*. The solution: don't personalize, just get back on your feet and move forward.

If you are good at what you do, I find it is not necessary to do THE BEST at all times, but wrong ASSUMPTIONS can and will kill your day every time and destroy all the rest you do Click on Virgin, if you want to know, how it was 4 me I love pussies and adore nice dicks

It I've read a massive cluster of philosophy, psychology and a blunder of self-help clips. And then I stumbled upon Anthony Robbins and his fricken clones. The originals - Jung, Nietzsche, Freud... and a few others were insightful. And then - plagiarised copies, modified, simplified, bullshit versions of their art has predominated. Hasn't it? 🤔 In recent days, I've become apathetic. I could give a fuck. "Drive fast... and measure your risk.."; is the best ways to go for me. I've just manicured my path through a snow storm. I don't give a fuck about anything. ... is there another way to look at it Going Too Fucking Far NEW Blog Features RevealeD O O A Foolproof Method Posted Over on that NEW site O O

I have not read it myself but I think I will now as those are good nuggets of wisdom. The one that strikes me most is the advice to keep to your word and keep others names out your mouth. The warning is there too we often forget how powerful words can be at times
